Metro-area students are speaking up after last week s mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church WCCO TV reports students in the Twin Cities are set to stage walkouts demanding state and federal lawmakers pass bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines The walkouts started at noon and are planned in cities like Eagan Hopkins Stillwater and more Related events are planned later in the afternoon at the Capitol A Minneapolis artist is doing his part to help the casualties of the tragedy KARE says the artist known as Kickliy has been setting up his easel outside Annunciation Church The idea was to create one oil painting that could be auctioned off to benefit Annunciation But once Kickliy completed the first painting he had the idea to paint as a large number of as he could over the next two weeks All proceeds from the paintings will help those impacted MPR News writes a federal judge in Minnesota has dismissed a lawsuit that sought to limit abortion access in the state Plaintiffs included situation pregnancy centers and anti-abortion organizations representing several women who disclosed they had abortions that weren t voluntary In her dismissal the judge disagreed with the plaintiffs argument that Minnesota s abortion laws violate parental rights And KSTP says a delay in a permanent memorial at George Floyd Square is costing Minneapolis millions The city says it s spent more than million on the planning process Now multiple are left with questions about what comes next The post Walkouts in metro area push for weapons ban appeared first on MinnPost
